It's hard to believe that tomorrow we will head back for the 2017-2018 school year! My name is Lynsee Whitman and I will be your child's Spanish teacher this year. I teach fourth, fifth and half of third grade (Carney and Shea) at Meadowbrook. My colleague, Rachel Scherer, teaches first, second and the other half of third grade (Morrissey and Barus).
If you are new to the Northbrook School District here is a little information about our program. Students in first through fifth grade receive thirty minutes of Spanish a day. We are an immersion program which means we speak 90% in Spanish and 10% in English. Our program is primarily vocabulary based and our main goal is to help students feel comfortable learning Spanish and therefore grow a love for language learning. While this may seem a bit overwhelming at first, you'll be surprised how quickly they pick-up the language. There are also plenty of resources on my website and in the classroom to assist them in their Spanish journey.
This is our sixth year of the program and we are more excited than ever to come back with new activities and lessons to help your child love the Spanish language. I will use this blog to provide you with updates on what is going on in Spanish class. You will also be able to see pictures and watch videos of your students to see what amazing things they are doing throughout the year. If you ever have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at email@example.com
You can also click here to check out my website. Here you will find vocabulary lists, electronic flashcards, and games for students to practice outside of school.
Looking forward to a wonderful year ahead,
Lynsee (Señorita) Whitman
